Our client, a thriving and long-established company, is seeking a Procurement Specialist to join their team. This newly created role has been introduced to support the company’s continued growth and presents an excellent opportunity to shape procurement strategies. The company has recently implemented a new ERP system, enhancing efficiency and streamlining operations.
This permanent, full-time position is based in Roscommon Town
Your new role
As a Procurement Specialist, you will be responsible for managing procurement operations, ensuring cost-effective purchasing, and maintaining supplier relationships. You will also have one direct report, a Stock Controller, who you will oversee and support in inventory management. Collaboration with internal teams will be key to aligning procurement with production needs.
This role is ideal for someone with procurement and warehouse experience, who understands stock management and supply chain processes.
Procurement Specialist Responsibilities
- Oversee the procurement and supply of goods and services required for company operations.
- Manage and support a Stock Controller, ensuring smooth inventory management.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, negotiating pricing and terms for cost efficiency.
- Work closely with warehouse and production teams to align procurement activities with weekly schedules.
- Monitor inventory levels, forecast demand, and implement strategies to optimise stock levels and prevent over/understocking.
- Oversee purchase orders, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to agreed specifications.
- Analyse and improve internal procurement and warehouse processes to enhance operational efficiency.
- Resolve supplier-related issues, including quality, supply, and performance concerns.
Procurement Specialist requirements:
- Proven experience in procurement, supply chain, or purchasing.
- Warehouse experience is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation, supplier management, and communication skills.
- Experience working with an ERP system (recently implemented at the company).
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive mindset with a solutions-driven approach to procurement challenges.
