Our client, a leading international engineering company, is currently seeking a Senior Procurement Specialist to join their team in County Meath. This is a full-time, permanent position offering an excellent salary and benefits package. The role will suit an experienced procurement professional, particularly one with a background in heavy manufacturing, industrial, or construction sectors, looking for the opportunity to make a significant impact in a thriving organisation.

Your new role

As a Procurement Specialist, you will be part of the Group Procurement team, with a dotted line to the Finance Manager, this role offers flexibility and presents an excellent opportunity to progress your career in an international company. You will manage the procurement process end-to-end, ensuring all materials and services meet operational requirements, cost, quality, and delivery standards. The role also involves significant supplier interaction and strategic partnership with internal teams.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with operational stakeholders to assess and meet procurement needs.

  • Evaluate, negotiate, and select suppliers, ensuring the best value for materials and services.

  • Lead competitive tendering processes and negotiate contracts, ensuring compliance with corporate processes and ethics.

  • Analyse spending and identify cost-saving opportunities while improving supplier performance.

  • Oversee the approved supplier list and contracts register, ensuring efficient contract execution.

  • Contribute to forecasting and budgeting for materials and services, with a focus on cost efficiency.

  • Participate in Group Procurement meetings, with occasional travel to Sweden.

  • Report procurement activities, focusing on sustainability and supplier performance. Ensure all activities align with company policies.

  • Manage purchase requisitions/orders, ensuring adherence to company guidelines and timelines.

What are we looking for?

  • A third-level qualification (degree or equivalent) in a relevant field.

  • A minimum of 5 years in a similar procurement role, with experience in strategic sourcing and large service agreements.

  • Strong negotiation skills, strategic sourcing, and experience in procurement tools (Maximo, E-sourcing).

  • Experience in procurement within heavy manufacturing, industrial, or construction sectors is preferred.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and procurement-related software.
