Matrix Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced Company Accountant to join our client, a growing company within the construction industry based in Waterford.

In this role, you will manage the finance function and play a critical role in the ongoing success of the company. Responsibilities include running the financial operations, managing accounts, providing key financial insights to drive business decisions and ensuring compliance within the finance function.

This is a permanent position with some hybrid working options.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and analyse monthly management accounts, oversee financial planning, and manage annual audits.

  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, subcontractor payments, and aged creditor reviews.

  • Administer payroll, pensions, employee benefits, and maintain accurate records of holidays and overtime.

  • Ensure full tax compliance, including RCT, PAYE, and VAT returns, while liaising with relevant authorities.

  • Supervise IT systems, vendor relationships, and procurement of office and financial software.

  • Oversee fleet and equipment management, ensuring tax, insurance, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws, health & safety standards, and financial regulations.

  • Provide financial insights to senior management to optimize business performance and risk management.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) preferred.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar role.

  • Experience in construction or a related industry is an advantage.

  • Strong knowledge of taxation laws and regulatory compliance.

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and multitasking skills.

  • Proficiency in accounting software and financial reporting tools.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy in financial analysis.

  • Strong communication skills to convey financial insights effectively.

  • Problem-solving ability and proactive financial risk management.
