We are currently partnering with a leading company in the utilities sector to recruit a Part Qualified Accountant for their Irish office in Offaly. The successful candidate will play a key role in financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and general accounting activities for the Irish business. Your New Job:
As a Part Qualified Accountant, you will be responsible for the preparation and posting of journal entries, assisting in the preparation of management accounts, conducting variance analysis, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes. You will work closely with the management team to provide financial insights and ensure efficient financial operations.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post journal entries in Sage 50, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, including Income Statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow Statements.
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes by financial data analysis and providing insights to support decision-making.
  • Conduct variance analysis and provide commentary on financial performance.
  • Reconcile Balance Sheet accounts, including bank reconciliations, tax account reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to improve financial processes and drive efficiency as part of the Finance automation project.
  • Record capital expenditure and maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Identify cost reduction and efficiency initiatives.
  • Utilise Microsoft Excel to analyse large datasets, create financial models, and produce reports.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of internal financial controls and policies.
  • Prepare and file tax returns.
What are we looking for?
  • Working towards a recognised accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or recently qualified.
  • Proven experience in a finance analyst or similar accounting role.
  • Strong knowledge and experience using Sage 50 or equivalent.
  • Proficiency in posting journal entries and general ledger accounting.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and financial modelling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
