Our client, a thriving and long-established Irish food group are currently seeking a Financial Accountant to join their finance team in Co. Longford.

This is a permanent hybrid role

The Financial Accountant will report to the Finance Controller. This role is crucial within the finance team and presents an excellent opportunity for career growth and taking on new challenges.

 

Your new job

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the preparation of period-end management accounts, including detailed supporting calculations and reconciliations for two companies.

  • Perform in-depth balance sheet analysis and reconciliations to ensure accurate financial reporting.

  • Post period-end journals, including accruals, adjustments, and corrections to reflect accurate financial data.

  • Oversee inventory counts.

  • Prepare regulatory returns, ensuring compliance with financial regulations and timely submissions.

  • Support the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts by collaborating with relevant departments.

  • Provide financial analysis and generate reports from business intelligence software to aid decision-making.

  • Assist in compiling a detailed audit file and support the year-end audit process.

  • Review processes and controls across departments to identify and implement efficiency improvements.

  • Handle ad-hoc duties and reporting as required to support business operations.

What are we looking for:

  • Fully qualified accountant with at least 2 years post qualified.

  • Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with ERP system knowledge is a plus.

  • Ideally a Certification in Data Analytics or a desire to pursue one.

  • Advanced IT skills, especially in Excel.

  • Skilled in conducting meaningful financial analysis and reporting.

  • Excellent organisational, communication and teamwork capabilities.

  • High attention to detail with a solid understanding of accounting principles.
