Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Provide strategic leadership and direction to the nursing staff, promoting a culture of excellence in resident care.
- Oversee the recruitment, training, and evaluation of nursing staff, ensuring all personnel are well-qualified and up to date with current practices.
- Implement nursing policies and procedures in alignment with regulatory requirements and best practices.
- Conduct regular staff meetings to communicate organizational goals, policies, and updates.
- Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment, promoting professional development and job satisfaction.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care to all residents.
- Develop and maintain individualized care plans, coordinating with medical professionals, families, and residents to meet each resident's needs.
- Monitor and evaluate resident care practices to ensure effectiveness and adherence to standards.
- Address and resolve any concerns or complaints regarding resident care promptly and effectively.
- Advocate for residents' rights and ensure their dignity, privacy, and respect are upheld.
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as accreditation standards.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits, implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records, including resident files, staff credentials, and incident reports.
- Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and standards, and update policies and practices accordingly.
- Develop and manage the nursing department budget, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Monitor and control expenditures, identifying areas for cost savings without compromising quality of care.
- Participate in financial planning and resource allocation discussions with senior management.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives to enhance resident care and operational efficiency.
- Analyse data related to resident outcomes, incidents, and other metrics to identify areas for improvement.
- Implement evidence-based practices and innovative solutions to improve nursing care delivery.
- Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure continuous improvement and compliance with standards.
- Serve as a liaison between nursing staff, residents, families, and the broader community.
- Communicate effectively with families regarding residents' health status, care plans, and any changes in condition.
- Promote within the community, participating in outreach and marketing efforts to enhance the facility's reputation.
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing (MSN) or Healthcare Administration preferred.
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ireland.
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role, preferably in a long-term care setting.
- Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare regulations, nursing practices, and quality standards.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Proficiency in healthcare management software and electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach to resident care.
- Strong ethical standards and commitment to integrity.
- Ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
- Problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
