What you need to know
A leading and well-established manufacturer of high-quality building materials to the construction industry in Ireland and the UK is looking for an experienced and driven Plant Manager to join its team in Longford.
As the Plant Manager, you will report directly to the divisional Business Unit Head and work with them collaboratively to implement good manufacturing practices and ensure lean principles are utilised wherever possible. You will be responsible for managing the performance of production, maintenance, health, safety, environment, and quality at the company’s site in Longford.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Promote and prioritise a safe working environment for our people.
Working closely with SHEQ Manager, ensuring appropriate policies, procedures, staff and processes are in place to meet the safety, health environment, and quality assurance standards.
Develop production plans in conjunction with senior management to maximise the efficiency of the operations and return on capital.
Contribute to the development of the overall production strategy for the business.
Monitor the production performance of the site against the budget through a set of agreed KPIs.
Drive efficiencies at all levels of the business through short/medium-term process improvement projects.
Drive standardisation of approaches, practices and reporting across the business through a culture of continuous improvement.
Lead and support the people agenda on-site by taking an active role in recruitment, onboarding, development and employee engagement in conjunction with HR.
Establish a regular pattern of (daily, weekly and bi-weekly) production meetings with the production teams to ensure the execution of the production plans.
Build strong working relationships with Supervisors so they’re supported in their roles, enabling them to share knowledge and best practices with staff under their management.
Contribute to the development of the capital investment strategy plan and the implementation of capital and NPD projects.
Oversee smooth and efficient operations across the business from planning, design, production, and delivery.
Develop a strong culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.
What are we looking for?
Qualification in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing or another related field.
Minimum 5 years’ Plant / Site Management experience is essential; experience in the building materials sector is advantageous.
A proven track record in increasing efficiency to maximise return for the site.
Leads by example, with a "can do" approach, passion, energy and a strong work ethic.
Makes good decisions and delegates responsibility and accountability to the appropriate level.
Open to change with a capacity to deal comfortably with risk and uncertainty.
Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusted relationships.
