Matrix Recruitment is currently recruiting for an Ecologist for our client based in County Offaly who specialises in the climate solutions. They prominently focus on the renewable energy, recycling, waste management, carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation. This leading Irish company are currently expanding with innovative projects on the horizon, and they are now looking to grow their team.

The Ecologist reporting into the Ecology Team Manager, will provide ecology and biodiversity support to projects, promoting best practices, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement.

This is a 2-year Fixed Term Contract.

 

Your new job

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and update site-specific rehabilitation plans and reports for the Peatland Climate Action Scheme.

  • Support all projects through mapping, ecological support, reviewing reports, participating in meetings, data management and liaising with key clients and third-party consultants.

  • Conduct ecological surveys to contribute to the client’s database.

  • Assist the Ecology Manager in providing cost-effective and valuable ecology and biodiversity services and projects.

  • Ensure all actions and projects are completed on time, within budget, meet specifications, and comply with relevant codes, legislation, regulatory requirements, and Health & Safety standards.

  • Ensure KPIs are clear and monitor risks and opportunities to achieve optimal project and service outcomes.

 

What are we looking for?

  • Level 8 qualification in ecology or a related scientific degree is essential.

  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in ecology is essential.

  • Knowledge and membership of CIEEM is desired.

  • Experience in peatland species and habitats is highly desirable.

  • Experience in digital data capture using GPS tablets, as well as processing and analysing survey data and knowledge in appropriate assessment.

  • Skilled in ecological surveying, habitat and species identification, and conducting specific species surveys.

  • A full clean driving license is required.

  • Proficient in MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project and GIS.
