Matrix Recruitment is currently recruiting for a Laboratory Technician for our client based in County Offaly who specialises in the climate solutions. They prominently focus on the renewable energy, recycling, waste management, carbon sequestration and biodiversity conservation. This leading Irish company are currently expanding with innovative projects on the horizon and they are now looking to grow their team.

The Laboratory Technician reporting into the Environmental Health and Safety Officer, will be key in to carry out daily duties in accordance with the provisions of the ISO 17025 Standard.

This is a permanent position.

Your new job

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Carry out fuel analysis and ensure it is in line with the laboratory quality manual ISO 17025 standards.

  • Conduct water analysis which in turn co-ordinates with the plants environmental management system and liaise with the operation manager in regard to the sampling, testing and quality of process water.

  • Carry out risk assessment and auditing to assist with Environmental, Health & Safety activities

  • Perform internal quality and laboratory audits to ensure the Business Management System and laboratory activities complies with ISO standards, including ISO 17025.

  • Control of water and steam chemistry on the plant and effluent to ensure the plants Environmental Management System compliance.

  • Assist in documenting and developing the plant’s control and Business Management Systems, ensuring compliance with accreditation and regulatory requirements, fuel supplier standards, and supporting continuous improvement.


What are we looking for?

  • Degree qualification in an Engineering/Science discipline that would be closely associated with fuel analysis and chemical analysis is essential.

  • Knowledge on the ISO 170025 standard is essential.

  • 1 year’s relevant experience is desired.

  • Fuel laboratory in an Accredited environment - EPA Licencing is an advantage.

  • Auditing Training & Experience on Fuel Analysis, Steam Plant water Analysis & Effluent Analysis.
