We shine a light on Lisa Egan, a seasoned Recruitment Consultant with a wealth of experience and a passion for connecting candidates with their ideal roles. With her extensive background in business and recruitment, Lisa has made significant contributions to our team over the past seven years. Let's dive into her journey, day-to-day responsibilities, and what makes her a valuable asset to Matrix Recruitment.

1. What is your background?

I hold a third-level qualification in Business and have earned an ERF Certificate in Recruitment, as well as a Fire Ward Certificate and a First Aid Certificate from Matrix. I have spent 7 years with Matrix Recruitment and bring a total of 20 years of administrative experience in the construction, healthcare, and public sectors.

2. Can you describe your current role - what's your typical day-to-day?

I manage the Office Support desk, focusing on recruitment for temporary roles in the healthcare, public, and private sectors. My daily tasks include liaising with clients and candidates, screening applications, preparing candidates for interviews, posting job advertisements, and developing business by reaching out to new and existing clients to meet their recruitment needs. I also manage candidate accounts and check in for updates on their work situations.

3. What do you enjoy most about your job?

I love that no two days are the same. My role is varied, giving me the autonomy over my desk and can engage with potential clients and sell our services. I enjoy guiding candidates through the recruitment process, preparing them for interviews, and helping them secure their desired positions. Building strong relationships with candidates and understanding their circumstances and strengths is incredibly rewarding.

4. You’ve been part of the Matrix Recruitment team for 7 years now. What is your favourite thing about the team, and what are the key reasons you’ve stayed with the company?

We work very well together as a team and collaborate effectively, sharing valuable information about the job market and suitable candidates. We support each other, fostering a positive work environment.

5. What advice would you give to someone aspiring to become a Recruitment Consultant?

If you’re interested, go for it! Working as a Recruitment Consultant is a learning experience. Every day brings new challenges and rewards, along with opportunities for growth and the chance to help others.

6. What are the 3 key skills needed to excel as a Recruitment Consultant?

  • Resilience: the ability to move on from setbacks

  • Versatility: adapting to rapid changes

  • Teamwork: collaborating to support one another

7. What hobbies/interests do you have outside of work?

Spending time with family and friends.

8. If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Chronokinesis – the ability to slow down, accelerate, or reverse time
