With a strong background in Business and Financial Services, Aoife brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role as our Payroll Administrator. Read on to discover what drives Aoife in her day-to-day work and what keeps her motivated as a finance professional!
1. What is your background?
I hold a degree in Business and Financial Services, as well as a certificate in Payroll and Computerised Accounts. Before joining the Matrix Finance team, I spent 13 years as a Fund Accountant at a global financial services company in Kilkenny.
2. Can you describe your current role – what's your typical day-to-day?
As the Temporary Payroll Administrator, I manage weekly and monthly payroll processing for our clients and handle all payroll invoices sent to clients each week. I also address any payroll-related questions from individuals to ensure smooth operations.
3. You’ve been part of the Matrix Recruitment team for over 4 years now. What is your favourite thing about the team, and what are the key reasons you’ve stayed with the company?
I’ve been with Matrix for 4 and a half years, and I really enjoy being part of the dynamic Finance team and collaborating with the various other teams at Matrix. The company provides a positive work environment, which supports a healthy work-life balance.
4. What advice would you give to someone who would like to become a Finance professional?
If you’re considering a career in payroll or finance, it’s essential to enjoy working with numbers and to have strong attention to detail.
5. What are the 3 key skills you need to excel as a Finance professional?
Attention to detail
Ability to work in a deadline-driven environment
Strong communication skills
6. What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
As a shopping enthusiast, the best advice I’ve received is, "If you love it, buy it!" 😊
7. What hobbies/interests do you have outside of work?
I enjoy playing music and since the age of 10, I have been playing the flute in a fife and drum band. I also love swimming, reading, and, most importantly, spending quality time with family and friends.
