A well-established and award-winning manufacturer of chilled and frozen foods in Co. Westmeath is seeking an ambitious and driven Production Supervisor to join their team.

As Production Supervisor, you will have responsibility for managing the day-to-day running of your shift, ensuring the safe and efficient production of products. You will ensure that production and quality targets are consistently met and that personnel are managed and trained effectively to carry out their duties.

Your New Job

Duties & responsibilities

  • Direct and manage food manufacturing activities and personnel to ensure daily production targets are achieved to meet customer demand.

  • Co-ordinate production work rosters in a cost-effective manner to ensure there is a sufficient level of personnel to meet production targets.

  • Help implement manufacturing standards, procedures, and processes to ensure the successful delivery products that meet quality standards.

  • Effectively manage and communicate with all personnel under your guidance on a regular basis and provide constructive feedback to improve individuals performance.

  • Lead and drive a culture of staff engagement focusing on teamwork, and problem solving, transparency.

  • Monitor productivity rates against agreed targets.

  • Ensure all personnel under your performance are trained and competent in all procedures relevant to their role including the use of equipment and machinery.

  • Work closely with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure a consistent, timely, cost-effective maintenance programme is carried out on all equipment and machinery.

  • Ensure all disciplinary incidents and staff absences are dealt with in a professional, and fair manner and comply with employment laws.

  • Work collaboratively in cross-functional teams on various continuous improvement and NPI projects to successfully achieve collective business goals.

  • Positively contribute to lean manufacturing initiatives and share ideas on how to improve manufacturing processes, increase efficiency and safety and reduce costs.

 What are we looking for? 

  • A driven and committed Production Supervisor with 5 years’ experience in a dynamic food manufacturing environment.

  • Experience of working in a regulated environment to BRC standards or equivalent regulating bodies.

  • Strong leaderships skills and the ability to mentor and develop personnel so they are challenged and reach their potential.

  • Excellent organisation and planning skills.

  • Strong problem solver who thinks methodically and make decisions decisively and quickly.

  • Inquisitive individual who can tactfully challenge conventional thinking and has experience of driving improvements in site standards.

  • Strong team player who can work well with personnel from different disciplines to achieve results.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage and motivate staff and colleagues.

  • Possess strong attention to detail and implements high quality standards.

  • Experience of conducting training on both a 1:1 basis and in small groups.

  • Excellent communicator (written and oral) who can provide direction in a concise manner and influence others in a positive way.

  • Strong IT skills – Competent in the use of all MS Packages.
