In the morning, it looked odds on that the annual CIMA Southern Area Golf Tournament event would not take place due to the huge amount of rain. However, a call was received from Ann Marie confirming the course was open but no buggies allowed. By the time we got to Gowran, the weather was on the up and in the end, we had the best afternoon of weather over the history of the event.
The course itself was a bit soft but the greens were in superb condition and there was hardly a breeze so no excuses for any of us. As usual, the competition was fierce and there was a feeling that Donnacha might retain the trophy but former winner Pat Jones was walking around the course with confidence. This was not misguided and Pat posted a fantastic 37 points.
Congratulations to Pat!
Pat’s team had been on trial for the past few weeks but on the day his selections delivered and they posted a fine 89 points.
